pasters and clergy marching for peace. kron 4's da lin has more. >> reporter: this is a different kind of march, no chanting and no signs. instead they walked up to young people and talked to them late at night. the pastors aim to build trust and relationships with young people on the streets. police say many of oakland's murders are committed be team in their teens and 20s. >> positive. positive. as you can see we are reaching the community and we are in places where there is a lot of killings. >> they want to see what kind of help they could offer, food, shelter, job training. they call this the night walk. operation cease fire. >> the light shines brightest in the darkest places. we are willing to go out to

bring good news. >> reporter: they took part in the march friday night in east oakland. this is oakland's second attempt to implement operation cease fire. >> you will find some cities feel like they could operate pieces of it. in 20009 that is what happened -- 2009 that is what happened. >> reporter: it succeeded in boston and they helped them to help implement it here. >> you partner with the community and the community is not to be used as a tool. they are real partners. >> reporter: they just wrapped up the first night work and right now they are deciding where to meet for the next night walk. there will be plenty more to come. da lin, kron 4 news. new effort to tackle a

growing prostitution problem. residents and officials kicked off a deer john -- dear john letter campaign. anyone who sees someone soliciting can write down the license plate number and send it to police and they will send them a letter. they agreed to try it out for six months. the murder of a 7-eleven clerk touched the community. tonight family and friends, even strangers gathered where the man was killed. they wanted to celebrate his life. we spoke with those who tented about why it was important to -- who attended about why it was important. >> reporter: neighbors mourned

the death of a store clerk. some shedding tears. >> i am emotional about it. >> reporter: others sharing anger. >> we have your picture, finger prints, we know who you are and we will get you. >> reporter: she lives in the area and didn't know him too well. they crossed paths when she visited the store. she organized the candlelight vigil because she says he deserves better. >> it is ridiculous. it is scary. these kind of people are out there. the police department is looking for these three men. these are surveillance video photos released by investigators. they stormed in, shot and killed him and robbed the

store. if you have any information that could solve this crime call the police. 7-eleven is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. >> good to have the community support and show the family that he was important and he will be missed. >> reporter: word got out of the candlelight vigil on facebook and at least 100 people showed up. kron 4 news. bay area native u.s. ambassador chris stevens was one of the first to arrive in libya after the uprising there against moammar gadhafi. he was killed in the attack on the u.s. embassy and today he along with the three others who were killed receiveed a hero's welcome. an honor guard carried the

caskets of those killed. chris stevens, sean smith and tyrone woods and glen doherty all died on the 11th anniversary of 9/11. president obama, vice president joe biden and secretary of state hillary clinton were all there for the arrival home. >> today we bring home four americans who gave their lives for our country and our values. >> chris stevens was everything america could want in an ambassador. how he first went into the peace corps, during the revolution he arrived in libya on that ship. and in benghazi he layed down his life for his friends.

caltrans is doing construction on the bridge. two westbound lanes closed, two eastbound lanes close at midnight. all lanes open at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and in october they will close the bridge for two weekends. they will replace decks and the crack beamed that were discovered during inspections. get ready for delays at san francisco international airport. there could be delays for the next three weekends because one runway will be shut down for improvement work. the runway closed tonight at 10:00 p.m. and will reopen monday morning at 8:00 a.m. work will continue for three weekends. water taxi service will begin on monday. they are one of two companies that received approval this
